I currently oversee the beauty & personal care vertical at New York Times’s Wirecutter. Before my appointment to this role, I launched the “Ask A Beauty Editor “column at New York Magazine’s The Cut, and wrote it weekly for almost three years. I was also the co-founder of Fat Mascara, an award-winning podcast about beauty culture that I hosted for nine years.
On my quest to uncover beauty stories, I’ve interviewed hundreds of celebrities, tested thousands of beauty products, and traveled the world to squeeze eggs from salmon in Norway, harvest shea nuts in Ghana, dig up turmeric in India, and scour the road shops of South Korea. I’ve also written cover stories for Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire, and contributed articles to Allure, Elle, Esquire, and many others publications.
In my 25 years as a journalist, I’ve appeared as a beauty expert on Today!, Good Morning America, and Watch What Happens Live; served as a judge for industry awards programs (Cosmetic Executive Women, The Fragrance Foundation, Beauty Independent, and others); and spoken at Harvard Business School, University of Pennsylvania, Syracuse University, SUNY, and CUNY.
If I’m not on a mic or on deadline, I’m probably hiking with my husband, Eric, and our hairless dog, Wolfgang.
